Lucy and her little mate William modeled their new screen printing range at Mum's group today! Just gorgeous!

Needles... :(

Ah, immunisations are tough aren't they?  So many benefits for an individual and society but nothing can help you prepare or reason with a child who, understandably, has little consideration for their health or that of society and can just see a big shiny needle going in to their arm(s).  And having the 2 of them done at once... Maybe that was a little crazy...

James went first, at the nurses recommendation (she said he was far less likely to cooperate if he saw Lucy react and physically he would have been harder to restrain - sounds terrible doesn't it!).  2 nurses jabbed him from both sides at the same time and he cried and cried... One of the nurses said she hit a blood vessel so she said it would hurt more and potentially bleed more.  Great...  A lollipop appeared and even that couldn't stop the tears...


















So then it was Lucy's turn!  I thought this is going to be impossible after she's seen that!.  Lucy saw the lollipop and said to the nurse "Lucy's lollipop" (which actually sounds more like "Wucy's wollipop").  The nurse said to Lucy she can have a lollipop after her needle.  Lucy hopped up on my knee, cuddled in tight, and had her needle without a peep.  Well there was a peep I guess, but it was the instant after the needle went in and she said "wollipop now?".

With lollipop swiftly in hand she happily hopped off my lap so James could climb back up for more consoling!

James last birthday gift was a DIY plaster magnet set from the Hannon's. We made the plaster casts for the sea animals this morning and, after sooooooo long it seems to little kids, they're ready (enough) to paint!

Apparently underwear is optional!

The Aquarium

Inspired by James' love of Manta Rays over recent months, Jacqui and I decided to do a day trip to Melbourne and take the kids to the Melbourne Aquarium.  We had a huge but delightful day with my cousin Fiona,her partner Rodney, and their gorgeous children Erika and Charlie.

 

So many things to see and do, and so many kids as it was school holidays! Lucy loved the egg casings and spent a long time matching them all up...

It was a great day and well worth the 7am start and the 7+ hours on the road (including the few wrong turns in the city while looking for parking!).  One of the more memorable things from the trip is that Lucy did not stop talking the entire trip to Melbourne. The trip home saw an exhausted James fall asleep the minute he was strapped in to his car seat, but not Lucy!  No way!!! She commentated on the cars and the planes and the sun and the planes and the trees and the planes and the road and the planes and the books and the ... (you get my drift) and it was only when we left Glenrowan at 8pm that she fell asleep and that pretty little mouth stopped moving!!!

Easter 2012
