The Tassie Experience...

Well, as I said in the previous blog, circumstances called for an unscheduled trip to Tassie for Grandma's funeral on Wednesday. The catch-phrase of the day was "every cloud has a silver lining" with Grandma's passing being the cloud, and the opportunity to get together as a family the silver lining.

James was a brave big boy and loved his first plane trip.

Grandpa Leon didn't waste anytime reacquainting himself with James!!! And a reliable source tells me that a call of 'time' was even made when James was being held by another person during dinner on Wednesday night!!!
Wednesday morning, before the funeral, we took the opportunity to catch up with Ange and Zak Carmichael, a week after Zak's birth. Ange was looking exceptionally well despite the big effort it took to assist Zak into this world. James and Zak had a photo shoot on Ange's bed and James made Zak look tiny!

After visiting the Carmichaels we raced back to the hotel where Sarah (a.k.a Bainy) brought her gorgeous kids to visit. Fletcher has grown so much since we last saw him and Soph is every bit a little lady! Bainy, Ange and I played netball together back in the day so it was great to see them again.

Sophie and Fletcher with James.

We then headed out to St John's Church in Glenorchy for Grandma's funeral and then her burial at Pontville cemetary. James couldn't wait to be fed at the cemetary so I've got another story for his 21st... being on the breast while Grandma's coffin was lowered into the ground. Afterward, the family got together and celebrated a full life...

Mum, Dad, Kate, me, James, Matt and Jacqui

We went out for dinner with family and family friends. It was great to see the Coopers and Streets and see them all cluck over James. When the DJ started up at 9pm it was time to think about heading home to the motel!!!
It was a rude start to the next day with a 4am wake up and a 6am flight. We farewelled Mum, Dad, Jacqui and Kate at the airport and started the epic journey home... We drove in the driveway at 12.30pm, all exhausted and in much need of sleep...
